Grass straws

Grass straws are single-use, hygienic and biodegradable. They are the simplest replacement for single-use plastic straws.

The production of these straws does not affect the ecological balance. Our grass straws are hand picked by local people living there.

Our grass straws are harvested and processed naturally with no chemicals. The grass grows naturally, and the straws are not treated with any chemical products or preservatives. They are triple washed in salt water and dried in high temperature.

Grass straws decompose naturally, helping to protect the environment. You can put them into compost or organic waste bins.

They retain their shape in both hot and cold water.

Those are intended for single-use at restaurants, bars and events. For individuals, we encourage you to reuse them. Rinse, dab with a clean towel or leave out to dry slightly.

Lepironia articulata grass growing wild in the Mekong delta in Vietnam has a rigid structure and therefore it is an excellent raw material for straw production.

The production of these straws does not affect the ecological balance. Our grass straws are hand picked by local people living there. Work of these rural farmers rely on the Lepironia grass products they make as the main source of their income.

Grass straws are harvested and processed naturally with no chemicals, are not treated with any chemical products or preservatives.

The grass is harvested, washed and cut into ca.20 cm long tubes. The inside of the tube is cleaned and the tubes are washed again in salt water. Afterwards they are left in the sun for 2 to 3 days and next oven-dried in high temperature.

Our approach

All the plastic drinking straws which are currently on the market, either those made of fossil based plastic or biodegradable ones made of PLA (Polylactic Acid) ‐ will be banned from 2021, according to European Parliament directive (EU) 2019/904.

Stopping the littering of the environment with plastic waste and their retention in landfills should be our priority. About 80% of the plastic in the oceans comes from land-based sources (according to Ocean Conservancy, Inc.)

What happens to our planet affects us all. Even if you have never seen the ocean, imagine how great its impact is. It produces half the air we breathe, the food we eat and the water we drink.

It seems to us that we cannot help, but in fact we can be inspired at any time, take the first step, change something in our thinking and action.

Single-use grass straws are the best solution to the plastic straw.

Reusable straws require cleaning, and paper straws are characterized by an environmentally harmful production process and an even larger carbon footprint than plastic.

The production processes of straws we offer are not detrimental to the environment.

Rice straws

Straws made of rice, tapioca flour and natural dyes. They come in colors: white taken from rice, green from spinach, purple from beetroot and black from sesame seeds.

These straws can be kept at room temperature for 18 months whereas the duration will be shortened to 30-120 minutes when they are put in normal or cold water.

Thanks to advanced technological processes, they are hard to be broken, stiff enough, and evenly made.
